Sombras de luz - Cabo Espichel
A Composition by Jan Glück
Sombras de luz is a musical work that tries to establish musical textures that represent light and shadow of a specific place at different times.
Individual glimpses of light materialize and shine through the shadows. A multitude of light rays merge into a warm and bright light.
Experiencing Cabo Espichel and the sunset over the atlantic ocean in Portugal planted the original idea for a textural composition, that focuses on a tangible relation between the auditory spectrum and its metaphorical division into light and shadow. Glimpses of light are represented by the upper end of the frequency spectrum and shadows by the lower end, the sunrise and bright sunlight by an expanding range of frequencies, merging into one musical texture that completes the auditory spectrum.
